At the end of their regular school day, KidSmart School Age students find a secure, welcoming and stimulating place to spend time right in their own familiar school building. KidSmart programs are fun, supportive and, most of all, flexible, so that each child finds age-appropriate activities that fit their own unique needs and energy level.
Children can choose to spend their time in a variety of play activities:
- Homework Help/ MCAS Preparation – knowledgeable teachers work with each child according to his or her needs. Many children in the School Age Program make their school’s honor roll after participating in homework help.
- Arts and Crafts – children can follow their own creative ideas or work on seasonally themed projects
- Music and Drama – children can explore their world through plays and music
- Building and Games – children can explore their interests alone or participate in collaborative activities
- Active Play – children have lots of energy, even at the end of their school day, so there are many opportunities for active play, both indoors and out
- Friday Movies – a quiet time at the end of the school week
Quiet time, daily snacks and socializing with friends are parts of every after-school day
